What local cremation culture means for keepers
Cremation is now the majority choice for people in Texas, at about 55.7%[1], yet burial remains familiar. Among reptile keepers you'll find both. A tiny gecko buried under a favorite plant is as valid a goodbye as a private cremation, provided you're sure of the death and bury deep enough to keep scavengers away.

Home burial and scattering are different: Texas and your local council or county may set conditions such as depth or distance from water. How do Texas attitudes to cremation compare?

Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Azle?
Usually yes. Lake Worth is about 9 miles away, White Settlement is about 11 miles away and Saginaw is about 11 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Where are the providers that serve Azle actually based?

Does the Azle climate change what I should do first?

My tortoise hasn't come out of its burrow for days. Has it died?
Not necessarily. In hot weather many tortoises shelter underground for long spells and slow right down. Check the burrow entrance gently and watch for fresh tracks or disturbed soil. If you're worried, ask a reptile vet for advice before digging, and never pull a tortoise out in the midday heat.
My reptile died after a power cut. What should I do?
First make sure it really has died: a chilled or overheated reptile can be torpid rather than dead, so bring the room back to normal temperature gradually and ask a vet to check. Then tell the vet what temperatures the enclosure reached, especially if you keep other reptiles, because they may need checking too.
