Few authorities inspect how a pet crematory keeps a small body apart from others, and Hawaii is unlikely to be an exception. That puts the job of asking on you. The rules summarized below cover what you may do with a body or ashes; a promise that your reptile is cremated alone belongs in a written agreement.

A calm checklist for keepers in Honolulu
- Leave the heating as it is for a moment while you note the temperatures at the basking spot and the cool end. Your vet's first question will be about them.

Which nearby towns can I compare with Honolulu?

What if my outdoor tortoise is found cold and still in Honolulu?
Don't assume it has died. A tortoise caught out by a cold night can become deeply torpid. Move it somewhere sheltered, let it warm gradually to its normal temperature without hot water or direct heat, and call a reptile vet. Only once death is confirmed should you think about freezing, burial or cremation.
Can any vet in Honolulu confirm my reptile has died?
Yes. Any vet can confirm death, even one that mostly sees cats and dogs, though a reptile or exotics vet is more used to it. The most reliable check uses a Doppler probe to listen for a very slow heartbeat. Call ahead, mention the species, and keep your reptile at its normal temperature until you get there.
Can I freeze my reptile before cremation?
Yes, once death is definitely confirmed. Double-bag the body, place it in a labelled, lidded tub and keep it away from food. Freeze only if the wait will be more than a couple of days and you don't want a post-mortem, because freezing damages tissue. For shorter waits, the fridge is enough.
